My dog, Dexter, was 3 and I had tried all sorts to get him to enjoy swimming but he was too scared. He only ever went in water up to his belly and then he would walk back out. I wanted him to be able to swim because he's a German shepherd and I wanted hydrotherapy to be an option if needed in the future. I took him to swimming lessons, took him to swimming places with doggy friends that swam and even swam in places myself to encourage him in. But nothing would convince him!
However, WagWater of Southport are actual miracle workers! I warned them that he may not even put his foot in the pool but they weren't concerned. And within 5 minutes, Dexter was swimming! The ladies supported Dexter in the most fabulous way, gentle and encouraging, showing him how to position his body and showing him the way out. By the end of our session, Dexter was even jumping in to the water! I couldn't believe it! I took videos to send to friends and family and they all asked if I had used AI, they couldn't believe it either!
Since then, Dexter takes every opportunity to swim when out on a walk! He has swam in lakes, rivers and even went in the sea! He loves it! All thanks to WagWater of Southport!

A fantastic facility that really makes a difference
WagWater of Southport is absolutely brilliant, and I honestly can’t recommend them highly enough.
We have two Labradors, Millie, who is 12, and Jade, who is 9, and they both absolutely love their swims at WagWater. 🐾❤️
As Millie has got older, she is no longer able to walk very far, so finding a way for her to exercise and stay active without putting too much strain on her has become really important to us. Swimming gives her that opportunity, and she genuinely loves every minute of it. Seeing her excitement when she knows she is going swimming is priceless!
Jade loves it just as much, and it’s wonderful that they can both enjoy something together despite being at different stages of their lives.
What really stands out about WagWater is how safe, professional and well-managed the facility is. The staff are fantastic with the dogs, patient, caring and clearly understand that every dog is different. They create a safe environment where the dogs can exercise, have fun and get the most out of their swim.
For older dogs like Millie, it is so much more than just a fun activity. It gives her the opportunity to keep moving, stay active and enjoy exercise when walking is becoming increasingly difficult. The fact that she absolutely loves it makes it even more special.
WagWater isn’t simply a dog swimming pool — it genuinely contributes to the wellbeing, mobility and quality of life of dogs. The care, knowledge and genuine love for the dogs really shine through.
Millie and Jade both absolutely adore their swims, and we are so grateful to have such a fantastic facility on our doorstep.
WagWater of Southport would be a very worthy award winner. They make a real difference to dogs and their owners, and we couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

My westie Alfie, just adores going for a swim, and play at wagwater of southport. The girls Tracy and Julie, have worked so hard on making this space for our dogs to enjoy the water, with fun and safety.. They know everyday by name and make us pet parents and their dogs so welcome..

Its a wonderful facility for dogs and their owners. The pool is beautifully clean and the perfect temperature, there are changing rooms and a welcoming reception. The owners put their heart and soul into making sure every dog benefits from their time in the pool and are especially good with first time swimmers or nervous dogs. The sessions are reasonably priced and excellent value for money. I can highly recommend

Tracy and Julie were very welcoming and fantatsic with our labrador Milo. The pool is a great size, heated and also changing facilities are available for the owner if they want to join in the fun. Milo had a great time and we really enjoyed seeing him so happy.

I was very keen for my dog to enjoy swimming unfortunately she was one of the few dogs that had other ideas.
Tracey worked so hard to give her confidence and encouragement to no avail.and sadly I had to accept it wasn't for her.

Our 2 Springers have been to WagWater of Southport. The first time they were there, they were reluctant to get in the pool but the second time they were both happy to get in the pool or jump in the pool & swim. It was fantastic to see. WagWater is just simply WAGTASTIC.
Julie and Tracy are brilliant, so loving and treat your dog as their own and make sure they’re looked after and loved whilst enjoying every second of their swim.
I’ve visited today, and Milo has absolutely loved it, Tracy was so considerate of Milo with it being his first time and encouraging him throughout the session. Milo didn’t want to leave!
We cannot wait to book again and they absolutely deserve to win this award!
