We have 5 big dogs and can honestly say we were utterly amazed by this cottage. Absolutely everything has been designed around dogs and people having a relaxing, rather than stressful, holiday. The flooring, the furnishings, the garden, the dog accessories in case you forget anything yourself, and the standard of the whole cottage is just a revelation. Plus you literally can walk out the front door and go for walkies for hours. Also I cannot thank the owner enough for even allowing 5 dogs in her beautiful cottage. We will definitely be back many times.

Genuinely dog friendly cottage, with all you could want - walks from the door , enclosed garden , dogs beds and throws , hard floors so no muddy carpet worries. No extra charge for dogs ,.lovely cottage for humans too. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into it all. Great location in a pretty village with a dog friendly pub.

What I Did This Summer – Yew Tree Cottage, Redgrave

By Coco Cutter

Having accepted Hugo’s invitation to celebrate Perdys 10 th Birthday, I was a but apprehensive,

Hugo’s family are…. You know, the active sort, walking, agility, TRICKS! There are 4 of them, Hugo,

Perdy, Jive and Wilbur, they’re all big dogs, well bigger than me, they are Collie’s or Collie Cross,

apart from Hugo who is a Bedlington Whippet. Then there is me and my sister, I am a Lhasa x

Poodle and Miss Moo is a Chihuahua x Dachshund, she is the most annoying dog, EVER! Has to be

center of attention all the time.

I mean when it comes to behaving, I can sit, I know my name, I even learned ‘Paw’ to keep my owner

happy, she gets a real thrill when I do that. I’m only in it for the food though. I’m a much more

chilled out kinda dog. I like having my creature comforts nearby, a big bed for lazy afternoon

snoozes. My dream day would be a constant supply of food and a topped-up water bowl, that’s

what makes me happy, the simple things.

Anyway, I digress. Hugo had organised a weeks holiday for Perdy’s BIG 1 0. I had to bring my sister

and my owner, my owner is OK, and at least with 4 other dogs around my sister would have

someone else to distract her. Honestly, it’s like having to live with a hyperactive puppy! You would

have thought at 3 she would be growing up!

I was really impressed with his choice of accommodation, he obviously did a lot of research,

everything a dog would want. I do mean EVERYTHNG! It’s the first place I have stayed which is

properly dog friendly. Most places, I find, are dog tolerant, its not the same. Every room had a

choice of places to sleep. There were beds for the decerning dog in every room, and different kinds

too, our bedroom had a lovely wooden bed, with a large squishy cushion on the bottom and lots of

little pillows for snuggling. It looked really inviting; however I believe my owner gets anxious when

she sleeps alone so I kept her company. It’s important to make sure your owners feel safe and

looked after.

She seemed very happy with her environment too, very excited with the kitchen and all the gadgets.

I don’t understand the fascination with coffee, but there was a machine that made it. A large oven,

washing machine and dishwasher. I don’t know why she felt the need to use that, I would have

licked the plates clean. I was happy to see a good supply of environmentally friendly poo bags, balls

and healthy treats, it really was well provisioned for pooches and humans.

My owner and her friend spent their evenings at the dinner table, laughing and sharing a meal with a

bottle of wine. They seemed happy enough, it gave me time to relax and doze on the sofa after our

day out. After dinner they watched the huge tv box, Hugo and Miss Moo would cuddle up to them, I

would keep an eye on everything was ok from my chosen spot. There was a box with loads of cuddly

blankets, we put some on the sofa, they were leather and it can feel a bit cold on your tum when

you first laydown, much nicer to have something to snuggle against. I noticed there was also a step,

for little dogs, in case they needed a leg up, I didn’t need it, but it was a thoughtful addition.

I decided I enjoyed Suffolk, Jive had organsied lots of days out, we ran over fields in Constable

Country, explored Sutton Hoo and visited Framlingham. We didn’t go into the castle, but we walked

around the outside and though the countryside. Laverton was beautiful, lots of old houses in the

town and plenty to explore on the circular walk. The best bits were when we had a rest, my owner

and her friend found plenty of places for sausage rolls, a glass of cider and farm shops to try local

cheeses and wines. Anyone would have thought it was their holiday!

When we got back after our adventures, quite often one or other of us would have a burr or two

stuck in our fur. There was a good selection of brushes and other implements to help keep us

looking at our best. After one particular walk, Perdys owner decided she needed a bath, they made

use of the outside dog bath, with hot and cold running water, rather her than me!

Ther was hot and cold water for the humans too. My owner particularly enjoyed using the Faith in

Nature products provided by the cottage, and the big fluffy towels to dry herself before heading out

for the day.

The garden had lots of enclosed space for sniffing, there was an outside dining table, and a little

curved bench with a round table, was nice to see our owners having a coffee outside and a good

place to be given a treat.

There was even somewhere for our poo to go, and outside doggie poo disposal unit, if I had

opposable thumbs, I would have given it a go. Instead, I watched my owner use it, she did a good

job!

This was the best holiday I have ever had, I feel rested and recharged and ready to get back to

routine. Even my sister didn’t annoy me, she was happy playing with her boyfriend, Wilbur. I will

defiantly go back, Yew Tree Cottage is the pawfect base to explore the local countryside.

Missy, October 2023

Oh My Goodness! You will never believe what a week I have just had! You see it was Perdys 10 th

Birthday, she is one of my big dog friends. I have 4, Hugo, Perdy, Jive and Wilbur. I love Wilbur, he is

the best dog ever, he is my big floofy love fluff, and I have just spent the whole week with him…….

Hugo asked me and my big sis (Coco) to go away with them for Perd’s Birthday, I was so excited, I

love walks, I love Wilbur, I love new places, it was just so exciting.

The cottage which could sleep 6 humans was spacious and airy, it seemed huge, to be fair,

everything is huge to me, I am only tiny. I may be small in stature, but I am big on personality, and I

refuse to be outdone, if there is an adventure to be had, I want in on it.

There was very little cottage did not have, it was perfect, in all honesty my human human maid

could have just brought food and treats, there were loads of dog bowls for food and water. Coco

told me there was a shelf with treats and balls. There were even poo bags, not that I would use

them myself. I have people to clean up after me! Boxes of blankets and dog toys, towels, grooming

equipment and even leads. It was a positive poochy paradise.

We settled in and went for a walk. It was helpful for my human maid that there were leaflets with

the choice of 4 circular walks all setting off from the local pub, we only went on a short one for the

first night, but we did sit outside on the green and have treats while the human maids had a glass of

wine, its important to keep the hired help happy.

I have spent the week romping through the Suffolk countryside, alongside my man, we have chased

along footpaths and woods. The human maids got very excited by the scenery and history of the

places we visited. Someone called Constable did some paintings years ago, my human maid was

thrilled to stand where the Haywain was painted, to be honest, I was more interested in the sniffs.

Every time they stopped to take in the view was an opportunity for me to explore with my nose. I

loved running down the hills as fast as I could and chasing back up, just to do it all again.

The evenings, after dinner, I would play with Wilbur. He is happy to lay on the floor while I jump all

over him, he is so gentle, he knows I am much smaller. My sister is sooooo boring and never wants

to play, it was super exciting to have a proper playmate for a week, there was a huge bed, big

enough for a wolfhound in front of the fireplace. It was my favorite place to play with my man.

The cottage was just perfect for me and my friends, it was good to see that the quarters for the staff

were adequate too. The kitchen was well equipped for the human maids, it had everything they

could possibly want to make my life easier. I tried out their beds and found they we extremely

conformable. There is nothing worse than tired help, good nights sleep for them means a better day

for me.

We visited Framlingham, Lavenham, Southwold and Sutton Hoo, every day was full of new places to

sniff. The human maids were very good at finding somewhere to sit down and have a coffee, I

believe they became experts in sausage rolls. One day after a shorter walk in Southwold, they

discovered Flints Vinyard, and bought a bottle of wine. They then found the Milk Shed Farm shop,

and bought some local cheese, pate and bread. I believe they ate well that night.

I have had the most fantastic week. The place we stayed ensured my needs were as high of a

priority as my human maids. We had the most fabulous adventures, and when we came home of an

evening, there were loads of places a pup could rest or play without getting into trouble. The

humans were happy and relaxed and had everything they needed, from lovely shower gels and

shampoos and big fluffy towels, even a hair dryer. I wish every week could be like this week.

Wow! We all loved the Yew Tree Cottage in Redgrave, we went away to celebrate my sisters 10th birthday. It was amazing, we went with our human and the 4 of us, plus my girlfriend, her sister and mum.

Yew Tree Cottage was an amazing place to stay for all of us, so cosy, comfortable and relaxing.

We had so much fun exploring the beautiful suffolk countryside.

We loved Yew Tree Cottage!

Jive, October 2023

Yew Tree Cottage, Regrave was the destination for our weeks holiday, we took our friends and humans with us. I planned a whole week of fun (structured) activities, including many circular walks, the humans did get lost a couple of times, it was a good job I was there to herd them back onto the right route.

The evenings were perfect relaxing at Yew Tree Cottage, there were plenty of soft furnishings for those that like comfort, I prefered relaxing on the beautiful oiled brick floor, all 8 of us would highly recommend staying in the beautiful cottage, it is perfect for multiple dogs, the human had no complaints either! :)

Perdy, October 2023

Yew Tree Cottage in Regrave is amazing, my brother Hugo organised the break for my birthday week in September along with my sother siblings and a couple of friends, plus our humans. It's a perfect base for exploring Suffolk, we walked, ran, played and swam in some beautiful places, Constable country, Sutton Hoo, Framlingham and more.

After walking we would find one of the many delis, farm shops and vineyards, purchase some lovely local produce for dinner.

The cottage was the most amazing place to rest, relax and chill on one of the many dog beds, sofas or beds for the evening ready for another busy day!

We will be back for another visit!

Alison, September 2023

My name is Hugo, for my sister's 10th birthday (Perdy a beautiful flat coat x border collie) I decided to invite our siblings, some friends and take our human's on holiday.

Hound and Human (Yew Tree Cottage) was the perfect location! Us dogs (all 6 of us) had no restrictions in the house, the cottage has been extremely we renovated and suited my country gent persona. I could lounge on any of the sofa's and beds, there is a lovely big bath for Perdy, Jive had her own study to plan our daily activities, the kitchen was very well equipped, not that my humans used it much, they spent a lot of time purchasing local produce for charcuterie boards and local wines.

The dinning area and the lounge was great for socialising.

Redgrave was the perfect location, the local pub have created 5 local walks from the pub, we followed 3 of these, they were all fun and beautiful.

The area is really well situated for exploring Suffolk and Norfolk, we visited and completed circular walks in Sutton Hoo, Framlingham, Lavenham, our favourite walk was East Bergholt and Deben vale, we all had a dip in the river Stour near where Constable painted the Haywain, this was truly beautiful.

Our human's and us dogs loved visiting the area and cottage, we can not recommend it highly enough, so comfortable and a beautiful location.

Rebecca, May 2023

This has to be the most dog friendly cottage ever! Dogs are allowed in all areas. Throws, toys, towels, beds, bowls and treats are all provided. Beautiful cottage, clean and so unique inside with a stunning secure garden. Really quiet area (my reactive dog appreciated this) with scenic walks on the doorstep. It was so relaxing as the cottage is designed to be incredibly dog friendly that doggie owners could easily relax too. I cannot wait to return.

Susan, April 2023

Cottage was very clean and well presented everything provided for in the kitchen my granddaughter really liked the mirrored fridge. Dog beds, treats and toys very appreciated by my boxer who also enjoyed the walks straight from the end of the Lane.

CARRIE RUSSELL, October 2022

I have travelled a lot with work and have seen the good, the bad and the absolutely horrendous when it comes to accommodation and service.

HHH and Victoria, the owner provides an amazing place for hounds and humans alike (I love her branding and name - so apt) and the service and amenities she provides goes way above and beyond expectation. We had the best weekend at the HHH cottage.

We had a superb time and I think they deserve to be entered for an award. She clearly works hard to provide the best experience.

CARRIE, October 2022

JUST PAW-SOME!

We are just back from a long weekend at HHH. A guilt-free break away from home DIY and the house ‘to do’ list that was booked specifically for the furry member of our family – Bran.

What can I say about HHH?

Everything was perfect. It’s like home, but better.

Everything has been thoughtfully curated and provided for every doggo. From a selection of toys, right through to a bespoke dog bed in every room. The attention to detail is truly something else. And you might well think that the human pack members would have to compromise on something because it is so focused on dogs…well, you would be completely wrong.

The cottage has been sympathetically and thoughtfully renovated and has been beautifully decorated. It’s spacious, warm, cosy and meticulously clean. Ethical and sustainable mod cons and amenities (including Netflix), and an abundance of books for those nights in. The bed was so comfortable that I didn’t want to leave it!

These are all things you would not normally expect from a self-catering doggie cottage – but it literally has it ALL!

Victoria, the owner, clearly cares about all her guests and makes sure they have a great experience, both human and hound alike, and it really does show. All you really need is you, your dog and maybe your wellies. I can honestly say we had a paw-some stay at HHH!

Michelle, September 2022

Absolutely amazing! We were meeting up with our daughters to attend a family wedding but as we all have dogs(3 tiny ones between us) it was necessary to find a place that would accommodate all of us! Wow, this wonderful cottage exceeded everything we could imagine. Our 3 little dogs had a great time.

We will definitely book again but we have all agreed that next time it must be for longer!!

Stacey, June 2022

Such an amazing holiday home! This place was truly dog friendly. Our pooch was spoilt for choice on dog beds to use and toys to play with. The dog bath in the garden with hot & cold water was ideal and to top it off we were left some lovely doggie treats. The house was immaculate and had everything humans needed too. Will definitely be staying again and recommending to everyone.

Fay, May 2022

The cottage is absolutely the perfect place to stay with your canine friends. There are dog beds in every room and with the underfloor heating ours were just stretched out on the floor. Dog bowls, throws, spare leads, treats and toys to name but a few were all available, everything has been thought about in great detail. We will certainly be going back and the location is pretty perfect too.

Tracy, April 2022

The most amazing dog friendly accommodation we have stayed in for a very long time. Spotlessly clean and really warm and welcoming. Thetford forest is brilliant for dogs and not far at all. The garden is very secure even for the avid escape artists! The bed is lovely and comfy and the towels super soft. The cottage has everything you could need for your pooch and the little welcoming touches are great. The owner is brilliant and communication throughout has been spot on! We will definitely return. Thank you 🙂

Matt, March 2022

Absolutely brilliant. We could not have asked for more! Spotlessly clean and lovely and warm with the log burner and underfloor heating. Everything has been considered for dog-owners here with even poo bags and treats included. The accommodation is well laid out and has a lovely period feel, but with all mod cons

Sheila, February 2022

What an amazing place! The most dog friendly accommodation we have ever stayed in. Dogs are just so well catered for here. Everything you can think of is provided so all you really need to bring is their food. Great off lead walks straight from the cottage too. If they get wet or muddy then there is a huge outdoor bath and shower with hot and cold water . Dog drying coats are also provided! Our two retrievers had a lovely time. Our older dog was particularly taken by the doggy puzzles . They kept her amused all evening . The younger one wasn’t quite as patient but did love the treats provided . As for humans . Well we were equally well catered for. The cottage is extremely well equipped and comfortable. The local pub was welcoming and did very nice pub grub and was also dog friendly. A short walk through fields is startwing brewery. Also dog friendly and very welcoming and has the occasional live music ( storm Eunice got in the way of our intended evening of entertainment by way of a power cut) . We even saw the wild exmoor ponies on one of the many dog friendly walks. All in all we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend Hound and Human Holidays. We will most certainly be going back !

Kelly, January 2022

We just enjoyed the perfect doggy holiday! Of my two rescue dogs, one is particularly anxious and he can struggle to settle into unfamiliar environments, but he was very relaxed for the whole week which in turn helped us relax. Friends joined us with their dog and the holiday was even more special as all three dogs enjoyed staying together and the incredible walks nearby. I thought we might have to make sacrifices on the standard of the accommodation in a dog welcoming cottage, but the opposite was true. The pictures don’t show how spectacular the cottage is - the layout is just brilliant and everything is finished to such a lovely standard. It is beautiful and has features that are a huge surprise... just divine. I can't imagine finding a dog friendly holiday cottage that would trump this one. We humans played games and puzzles by the fire, whilst our best friends played and relaxed together.
