Lodges are spacious. Get away from the stress of life and enjoy a relaxing break with the dogs. Staff are really friendly and helpful and what more could you want but to walk the dogs in the middle of the forest. We go every year.

A lot of places say they are dog friendly, but then won’t allow you to leave a dog unattended in the accommodation, meaning going shopping, going out for a romantic meal for 2, or anywhere without your dog becomes difficult or impossible. Other places want you to put your dog in a crate if you go out without them, which is great if they’re crate-trained, but not if they’re terrified of crates! Some supposedly dog friendly places only allow one dog, only allow small dogs, only allow certain breeds - yes I’ve had to give the breed and weight of my dogs when enquiring about booking at some places. Forest Holidays is different. You can go out without your dog, no crate required! They don’t care about breed or weight! The cabins are far apart so if there’s a bit of barking no one else is likely to be disturbed. Also they allow up to 4 dogs per pet-friendly cabin! They do charge per dog per night, which I think is expensive, but to not have to worry about all the overwhelming doggie Ts and Cs at other places, it’s worth the extra money to me. Plus they have dog friendly activities, poo bins, and loads of great walks from the doorstep and close-by, particularly at the Sherwood location but at other locations too. Dogs are even allowed in the on-site shop/reception area! We’ve already booked our next Forest Holidays trip for 2021 as their cabins are the perfect social distancing holiday. Can’t wait to go back!
