Having moved here from a big concrete city that rarely had dogs and owners milling about it is an absolute HAVEN as a dog owner. I've always said you're more likely to find the odd place that isn't dog friendly vs the odd one that is.... dogs are welcome basically everywhere and the town centre is always teeming with our 4 legged friends. I adore it and so does my border collie! He's exhausted after a mull about town, saying hi to all the neighbourly dogs. Even for the times where I leave him at home I love sitting and dog watching. It brings me so much joy as an individual and as a dog owner.

Bury is such a wonderfully dog friendly town. Not only are there brilliant green spaces to walk with your furry friend, but so many of the shops and businesses actively welcome dogs. My cavapoochon has enjoyed a puppaccino in Midgar, had a bit of my toastie in Wright’s, been charity shopping for new toys in the Dogs Trust shop, and even helped us with a pub quiz at Edmundo’s (well, he ate a biscuit there at least).

We love visiting Bury St Edmunds with Betsy - every shop is very friendly and a lot even have treats. Water bowls are easy to spot outside a lot of the shops and restaurants. Very friendly town to visit and you feel very comfortable entering the shops.

It’s hard to think of shops, cafes, restaurants that aren’t dog friendly in Bury. There is so much on offer for owners and dogs alike and it means our dog can really be apart of everyday life. Also have to mention the great amount of parks and walks around this town we enjoy also.

Rory Griffin, September 2023

Most of my friends who visit comment on how dog friendly the town is compared to where they're coming from, and this is going back to periods where not as many places here were as dog friendly as they are now.

Tasha Hooper, September 2023

We live in the Bury St Edmunds area and run our animal business We Love Pets Bury St Edmunds from here. It's a cracking town for walks but also for dog friendly businesses who leave water bowls outside for free and have a jar of dog cookies by the till! It's a super dog friendly town, with many places welcoming dogs inside 😊

A town that's very much worth visiting with your best friend ❤️ 🐾🐕

Bury is my local town and I'm so glad it is! I can bring my beloved furry companion to share the beauty of bury and she gets lots of fuss while I shop.

Our favorite eatery is the bushel on st Johns street, they always bring a fresh bowl of water to keep pip happy while we enjoy a drink.
