Burns

A former army first-aider brought his dog back from the dead - by giving her the kiss of life after she choked on a five-inch bone.

Greedy Stella, a seven-yearold British bulldog, stopped breathing when a spare rib she ate at a barbecue got stuck in her throat.

She had foam all over her mouth but Chris Mallett, 37, didn't hesitate to put seven years of infantry training to use as he prized open her jaws to yank out the bone.

The dad-of-five said: "I held her mouth and blew down her nose, like they do with babies. Her eyes were black but I saw the brown coming back. She jolted when I blew into her mouth. I was rubbing her and she started breathing. She looked like she'd had 15 beers but slowly got up."

Neighbours cheered as Stella started chasing around the family home in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. Mr Mallett added: "It's not something I'd relish doing again but Stella's fine, that's the main thing."
